Scope of the studys to describe the concept design of a Floating Nuclear Power Data Center, deployed on large river estuaries or coastal waters that are strategically located to serve the information technology (IT) infrastructure.
Paper considers the increasing demand from ports to supply low-carbon power to cold-iron vessels, especially visiting containerships and cruise ships. As a result a Floating Nuclear Power Plant was designed having a goal to supply to the shore grid already installed, additional electric power to increase the available energy and support maritime decarbonization at ports.
Study identifies increasing demand for the LNG Sector as the international LNG trade remains important for global energy security. LNG is stored on board in large cryogenic tanks that maintain natural gas (primarily methane) in a liquid state around -165° C (-265° F). The typical energy demand for LNG carriers is between 30 to 75 MW.
